Unicode Italic Text

Our italic text generator uses Unicode Mathematical Italic characters to create text that appears slanted everywhere — even on platforms that don't support text formatting. While you can use asterisks for italic on some platforms (*like this*), Unicode italic works universally in bios, usernames, and places where Markdown isn't supported.

We offer four italic variants: serif italic, bold italic, sans-serif italic, and sans-serif bold italic. Mix and match with bold text for emphasis combinations.

Italic for Emphasis and Style

Italic text is traditionally used for titles, foreign words, emphasis, and thoughts. On social media, it adds a subtle, polished touch that's less aggressive than bold. It works particularly well in LinkedIn posts and Twitter threads for professional-looking emphasis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Unicode italic different from pressing Ctrl+I?

Yes. Ctrl+I applies formatting within an application. Unicode italic uses completely different characters that are inherently slanted. The advantage is Unicode italic displays everywhere, while Ctrl+I formatting only works within the same app.

Does italic text include numbers?

Unicode italic doesn't include italic digits for the serif style, but the sans-serif variants have no digit forms either. For italic numbers, consider using the sans-serif italic style which may render slightly differently than serif italic on some devices.
